Roy M. Painter, 64, passed away on Monday, May 11, 2011, at the V.A. Hospital. He was a retired coal miner, a U.S. Army Veteran and a big sponsor of Disabled Veterans. He also received several metals in the military.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 14, 2011, in the New Horizon Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow at West Jefferson Free Will Cemetery. The Rev. Doug Tate will officiate. Visitation will be today, May 13, 2011, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie E. and Nola Painter.
He is survived by his daughters, Jennifer Smith and Karen Walden; brothers, Buddy Painter, Curtis Painter and Jimmy Painter; and several nieces and nephews.
