Louis J. Vogel, 70, lifelong Manitowoc County resident died unexpectedly late Tuesday afternoon. He had a coronary attack while working in his garden at 1212 S. 25th St., Manitowoc. Funeral services will be at 8:30 a.m. Friday at Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc and at 9 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic church. The Rt. Rev. Msgr. John Landowski will officiate and burial will be in the St. Michael Cemetery, Whitelaw
Mr. Vogel was born May 1, 1890, in the Town of Cato, son of the late John and Mary Spaeth Vogel. He married Mary E. Schuh at Whitelaw September 25, 1912 and the couple owned and operated a farm in the Town of Manitowoc Rapids until retiring and moving to Manitowoc in 1957. Mr. Vogel was a member of Holy Name Society of St. Mary Church and was past president of Farmers Oil Co.
Surviving are his wife; four daughtgers, Mrs. Malcom (Patronilla) Miller of LeMesa, Calif., and Mrs. William (Agnella) Nuhs; Mrs. Lawrence (Priscilla) Vesely and Mrs. Donald (Mary Jane) Schwark of Manitowoc; four sons, Arnold, Robert and John of Manitowoc and Louis Jr., of Madison; four brothers, John of Auroa, Ill., Richard of Newton, Frank of Rt.4, Manitowoc and Bernard of Rt. 1, Cato; five sisters, Sister Mary Robert of Neopit, Mrs. Charles Brandl of Rt. 1, Cato, Mrs. Reinhard Klingeisen of Manitowoc; Mrs. Daniel Geiger of Brillion and Mrs. Peter Holschbach of Rt. 2, Manitowoc and 20 grandchildren. Two children and two sisters preceded him in death.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. Thursday where the rosary will be recited at 8:15 p.m.
