Mary Kay Berberick, 76, of Independence died Monday, August 6, 2012 at the Golden Living Center, Neodesha, Kansas.

Mary Kay was born February 16, 1936 in Emmett, Kansas the daughter of Edward John and Marie Natalie (DeWilde) DeVader.

She grew up in Emmett and graduated from the Emmett School System.

In 1955 Mary Kay was united in marriage to John M. Berberick and the couple made their home in Independence. John preceded her in death in January 1997.

Mary Kay worked part time for 15 years as Manager of the Independence Country Club Pro Shop. She was a member of the Altar Society, Daughters of Isabelle, St. Andrew Catholic Church and Independence Country Club. Mary Kay loved quilting and sewing as well as China painting and playing golf.

Survivors include two sons, Douglas Berberick of Independence, Ks. and Mark Berberick of Wichita, Ks., three daughters, Johnna Kay and Michael Lain of Cherryvale, Ks., Elizabeth and husband David Charles of Wichita, Ks., Patricia Berberick of Sacramento, Calif., three brothers Hank DeVader of St Marys, Ks., Leonard DeVader of Lone Jack, Mo. and Don DeVader of Burlington. Colo.; nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John M. Berberick; one son, Thomas L. Berberick; her parents; three brothers, Joe, Edward and Ray DeVader and three sisters, Anna Marford, Helen Helget, and Theresa DeVader.
