Wife of William Wiley Abercrombie

Daughter of James and Nancy Ann (Meadows) Brookshire

The Advance--Democrat (Stillwater, Okla.), Vol. 23, No. 28, Ed. 1 Thursday, March 11, 1915

Death of Aged Mother

Mrs. Elizabeth Brookshier Abercrombie, aged 77 years, died Sunday evening at 8:30 o'clock at her home on Lewis street, after an illness of pneumonia lasting several weeks.

The funeral was held at 1 o'clock Sunday afternoon at the home, conducted by the pastor of the deceased, Rev. Vermillion of the Baptist church, and interment made in the Fair Lawn cemetery.

Mrs. Abercrombie had been a resident of Stillwater since 1891, coming here from Corpus Christie, Texas. She was born in South Carolina in 1838 and married to W.W. Abercrombie (who died here March 1, 1908) August 28, 1861. Nine children survive her.

After a long, busy and useful life she died as she had lived -- honored, trusted and loved. She reared her own monument while she lived in the hearts of all who knew here. Her life was completed if work well done constitutes completion.
