Janet was born in Chicago, Illinois, on August 17, 1946. She graduated from Saint Mary Magdalene Elementary School and Johnson Creek High School, class of 1964. She received her Bachelor of Education in 1968 and her Master of Education Degree in 1976 from the University of Wisconsin - Whitewater. She started her teaching career in Glen Ellyn, Illinois. She taught 23 years in Oconomowoc (she hoped her students remembered her puns), Ashipun Elememtary and 6 years as a reading teacher at Sherman Elementary in Milwaukee. She was a world traveler having traveled to all 50 states, Canada, China and Jamaica. She drove the Alaskan Highway, was at the Arctic Circle and all countries in Europe except Spain. Jan was a loyal Cubs fan and hoped they would win the penant in her lifetime.
She was a docent at the Pabst Mansion for 20 years. She joined Vagabonds when she started teaching and loved downhill skiing at Indianhead every winter.
She was an avid reader, talented knitter, did lacework, Ukranian eggs, an archaelogiacal dig at the Hermitage taught reading in Appalachia under the CAP Program and genealogy.
The family wishes to thank her homecare hospice nurses Meghan and Laura for their loving care. Special thanks to the nurses and doctors at the Columbia - Saint Mary's hopsice for giving her comfort in her last days.
Jan, now you can explore all the stars in Heaven. May you forever Rest in Peace.
