Son of Joseph Kerr and Ruth Rowe

Husband of Elsie Louise Lant, 14 April 1891, Payson, Utah, Utah

History. Albert Kerr was born in Payson, Utah, on December 5, 1867. He was the son of Joseph and Ruth Rowe Kerr. He spent his entire life in and near Payson, engaging in farming and stock raising. He was a honest, hard-working person.

In April 1891, he was married to Elsie I. Lant. The ceremony was performed by her father, David Lant. A year later, they received their endowments at the Manti Temple. The entire trip being made in a wagon. To this union were born nine children - 6 girls and 3 boys. He took and active part in church work and when he gave his word to do anything, whether in a financial way or spiritual one, he could be depended on to keep his word.

He was not a person to push his way to the front, but always wanted to take a back seat. He and his wife spent many hours calling on and helping the sick and needy. He was one who received a great deal of satisfaction in helping the needy, especially a widow with a family to care for.

They had much sickness and sorrow in their family, having to bury most of their children at an early age. They so appreciated the kindnesses extended to them at such times, that they tried in every way to help others during their hours of trial. They had such a pleasant way in making one feel so welcome in their home. They believed in share and share alike.

He served in the capacity of a ward teacher for many years. Also as a Stake Missionary in the old Nebo Stake, laboring in the third ward, at Spanish Fork, returning home each evening. Brother Robertson was his companion. Later he spent one winter in the first and fourth wards in Payson, with Lorenzo Haskel, and Bishop Nelson of Genola, as companions. He brought his partners home for dinner each day, as he didn't like to put anyone to any trouble and enjoyed his wife's cooking best.

He held the office of a Seventy at the time of his death, August 12, 1932. He was survived by his wife and five children. She and two children passing away since that time. Leaving one daughter, Margaret Peery, and two sons, Kenneth and Bert. Kenneth is with the armed forces somewhere in England.
