ORVILLE J. RASMUSSEN

Orville J. Rasmussen, age 91, of 2220 S. 42nd St., Manitowoc, died on Sunday evening, July 6, 2008, at his residence.

Orville was born on Dec. 28, 1916, in Denmark, son of the late Alfred and Adeline (Sladkey) Rasmussen. He attended local schools.

He married the former Esther H. Schley on Nov. 9, 1940, in Manitowoc.

Orville served in the U.S. Army from April through December of 1945. He farmed and worked as a painter at Burger Boat Company until his retirement in 1980.

Orville was a member of First German Evangelical Lutheran Church and American Legion Drews-Bleser Post 88 of Manitowoc. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing cards.

He was preceded in death by one son: Kenneth Rasmussen; one granddaughter: Vicki Vetter; three brothers; and four sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 9, 2008, at First German Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1033 S. 8th St., Manitowoc. The Rev. Steven Hahm will officiate, with entombment at Knollwood Mausoleum. Military graveside services will be accorded by Drews-Bleser Post 88 of Manitowoc.

Relatives and friends may call on Tuesday (TONIGHT) from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Reinbold & Pfeffer Family Funeral Home, 818 State St., Manitowoc, and again at church on Wednesday morning from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m.
