Robert Carl Lindstrom, 103, died peacefully in his sleep on Jan. 30, 2024, at Canterfield Bluffton Care Facility, where he had enjoyed the socializing and activities provided. Born to Oscar and Alma Lindstrom at the farm on Akam Road on Nov. 5, 1920, he was the only son and the darling of his three sisters, Ruth (Wallace) Mick,Mildred (Merle) Akam and Gertrude (John) Mick. He graduated Corry High School in 1938 and worked the farm with his father. He received a military exemption as an only son and farmer, but he was called up in 1943. On home leave, he married Marie Josephine Doud Anderson on Jan. 20, 1944. He returned home on July 4,1945, after being wounded on the front lines of the Battle of the Bulge in Luxembourg and staying under treatment in hospitals from France to England and the U.S. Bob was an avid hunter, sportsman, bowler, fisherman, boater and RV traveler. He was a member of the Grange, VFW and the Odd Fellows. He served on the town council of Sherman, N.Y., where he and his brothers-in-law bought a sawmill in 1947 which became known as Mick Brothers and Lindstrom. In 1959, he bought in with Wallace Mick's WS Mick Lumber Company in Spartansburg, and both families moved back to Corry. He was elected to the Corry Area School Board from Concord Township. In 2002, they sold the farm on Sparta Highway and moved to Sun City Hilton Head.


He was predeceased by his wife, Marie, after 68 years of loving marriage; his parents, sisters and their husbands.


He is survived by his daughters, Loretta (Gaylord) Anthony, Alma (Bruce Mandosi) McWilliams and Julie Ann Lindstrom (Joseph Carrannante), all living in Sun City Hilton Head. He is further survived by four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.


Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery at a later date.
