E.E. "Pete" Franklin, 80, Topeka, died Sunday, Nov.3, 2002, at his home. Mr. Franklin was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and saw duty in the South Pacific. He was born July 26, 1922, at Rayborn, Mo., the son of George Franklin and Pearl Carter Franklin. He graduated from Mountain Grove High School in Mountain Grove, Mo. he lived mos of his life in Topeka. Mr. Franklin was a member of the First Christian Church, Topeka, and a life member of the Disabled American Veterans. He married Betty B. Counts on Sept. 30, 1944, in Topeka. She survives. Survivors also include a daughter, Rhonda R. Bryan, De Soto; a brother Arthur Franklin, Topeka; three sisters, Violet Turner, Emporia, Stella Rankin, Lawrence, and Virlee Crupper, Tonganoxie; and two grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Davidson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Rochester Cemetery, with military honors by a Fort Riley detail. Mr. Franklin will lie in state from moon to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. The family suggests memorial contributions to Stormont-Vail Hospice or the First Christian Church, sent in care of Davidson Funeral Home, 1035 N. Kansas, Topeka, 66608.
