Violet B. Franklin Turner, 94, of Emporia and formerly of Denison and Topeka died Wednesday, July 13, 2005, at her daughter's home in Emporia. Mrs. Turner worked as a clerk for the state of Kansas for five years. She moved from Topeka to Denison in 1983. The daughter of George Harrison and Pearl Carter Franklin, she was born Jan. 4, 1911, at Rayborn, Mo. She married Thomas G. Turner on Dec. 23, 1932, at her grandfather's house at Hartville, Mo. He died Nov. 12, 1980. Mrs. Turner is survived by four daughters, Wilma Fay Cravens of Emporia, Kay Jones of Lyndon, Willa May Bufalo of Inverness, Fla., and Betty Booth of Morrison, Colo.; five sons, Warren Turner, Benny Turner, Larry Turner and Jerry Turner, all of Topeka, and Jay Turner of Blue Rapids; one brother, Arthur Franklin of Topeka; two sisters, Stella Rankin and Virlee Crupper, both of Tonganoxie; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A sister, Pansy Simmons; and a brother, E.E. "Pete" Franklin, died earlier. The graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Topeka Cemetery in the Garden Chapel. The family will meet friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel in North Topeka. Memorial contributions may be sent to Hand in Hand Hospice, P.O.
