July 5, 1957 - July 15, 1991
Gay adult film actor Leo Ford appeared in over sixteen adult films during his short career. Born Leo John Hilgeford in Dayton Ohio, he spent his early years growing up in California and Florida after his parents divorce.
After some experience modeling in his teens, he moved to Boston to attend college. Leo had an interest in meditation and spent several months studying in India.
In 1981 he moved to San Francisco and then on to Los Angeles. During that year, the blond and handsome Leo made his first film in his brief but well remembered gay adult video career. He retired shortly after making his last film.
Returning to Los Angles he spent his last years working tirelessly on several worthy AIDS related projects. Tragically, he died a short time after being hit by a car while riding his motorcycle with his lover, Craig Markle, near Sunset Boulevard and suffering major brain trauma. His lover, Craig Markle, survived.
Leo Ford was cremated and his ashes were scattered near the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco. Leo will live on in the hearts and minds of those who loved and remember him.
