Alfred Brian Dies Suddenly
Prominent East Side Farmer Stricken Friday Afternoon and Dies Early Sunday Morning

Alfred Brian, well known farmer of the Prospect neighborhood, suffered a paralytic stroke about 5 o'clock last Friday afternoon while doing the evening's chores, and died about 36 yours later at 4:40 Sunday morning. Mr. Brian did not become unconscious immediately following the stroke but recognized people and was able to speak to members of the family.
Alfred Brian, son of William W. and Ellen J. Brian, was born near Lowder July 8, 1865, and departed this life December 19, 1920.
He was one of a family of thirteen children, four of whom have preceded him in death, leaving tomourn their loss two sisters and six brothers, namely, (according to ages) Adelia Thompson, Girard; Arthur Brian, Winters, Texas; Allie Brian, Virden; Athan, Dola and Anderson of Lowder; William W., San Antonio, Texs, and Nora Gilpin, Cheyenne, Wyo.; fourteen nephews and six nieces, together with other relatives and a host of friends.
"Uncle Alfred" as he was commonly known, was admired by all who knew him and we feel that his kindness and generosity will be remembered for years and it may be said of him "Thy works do follow."
Funeral services were held in the Lowder M. E. church Wednesday morning, December 22, at 10:30, Rev. D. C. Byus, of Chandlerville, former pastor at Lowder, officiating. The body was brought to Waverly and interred in East cemetery.
