Anderson Brian, life long resident of this community, died at Albuquerque, New Mexico, Sunday, February 5, following a long period of ill health and a few weeks serious illness. He had been in Albuquerque about three weeks and previous to that was in St. John's hospital several weeks.
Deceased was the son of William and Ellen Duncan Brian and was born in the Prospect community, Talkington township, on March 27, 1870, being 68 years, 10 months and 8 days of age at the time of his death. He had not been in good health for a number of years, but prior to his retirement from active life he was a successful farmer. In recent years he made a number of trips to other sections, principally in the west, for the benefit of his health. When in Waverly he made his home with Mr. and Mrs. Richard Vandveer. He had long been regarded as one of the most substantial citizens of the communitu.
Surviving relatives are one sister, Mrs. D. L. Gilpin, of Cheyenne, Wyoming; and three brothers, Doley and Athan, of Lowder, and William W., of Fort Worth, Texas.
Funeral services were held at the Baptist church Thursday afternoon at 2:30, Rev. Vernon Schontz, pastor of Central Baptist church of Springfield, and Rev. J. T. Finnan, pastor of the Baptist church of this city officiating.
Burial was in East cemetery.
