Jobe Allen Maynor died 11 June 1886, and on the 6th of August 1901, Evaline married Rev. Michael Calvin Higdon, a well known and highly respected Baptist preacher.
Rev. Higdon had at least three previous marriages, first to Mary Ann Arthur, 2nd to Rhoda Walker, third to Malissa Kimsey. His only child was with Malinda, a daughter Minnie.
Their years together were few, since Rev. M. C. died 13 Nov. 1905 and is buried beside Rhoda, the wife to whom he was married the longest.
This picture had written on the back "Rev. and Mrs. M. C. Higdon." Therefore, it is not positively identified as Evaline, but by the process of elimination almost surely is. He was only married to Malissa Kimsey for about a year and she was only 35 years old when she died in 1899 - this is not a 35 year old. The other two wives died before the era of this type of picture, and M. C. is obviously in his last years here. His first wife died in 1857 and his 2nd in 1894. If the picture was made in their last year of marriage to Evaline, she would have been 58 years old, which looks exactly right to be this lady in the picture, and exactly right for M. C., who would have been 82.
