GILBERT "STEINY" R. STEINBRECKER

Gilbert (Steiny) R. Steinbrecker, 75, of 1035 N. 16th Street, Manitowoc, died unexpectedly Thursday, January 31, at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church. The Rev. Keith Haag will officiate with entombment at Knollwood Mausoleum.

Mr. Steinbrecker was born February 21, 1909, in the Township of Kossuth, Manitowoc County, son of the late John and Mary Hessel Steinbrecker. He attended grade school in Rockwood, Wisconsin. Mr. Steinbrecker was a 1927 graduate of Lincoln High School.

When he left the farm near Francis Creek, he began a 56 year career as a car salesman and dealer. He started his sales career with Dickey Motors in 1929. He founded the Steinbrecker's Motors Dealership in 1935 and sold Packards and Hudsons until the outbreak of World War II. Following his role as submarine builder and draftsman at the Shipyards, he became the owner and operator of Manitowoc Milk Transit in 1945 until he sold the business in 1970. Also during this period and until the present, he sold Ford Lincoln Mercurys for Erdman Ford, Erdman Willkomm and Maritime Ford. He was recognized for his sales accomplishments by Ford Motor Company and was given their highest honor of Professional Sales Counselor. He was a member of Ford Motor Companies, Prestigious 300-500 Club for sales accomplishments for 17 years. Mr. Steinbrecker was one of the originators and past president of the Wisconsin Steam Antique Engine Club for many years. In addition, he was a member of the Manitowoc County Historical Society. Most importantly, he was a Christian and a member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church.

He married the former Elinor A. Ledvina on June 12, 1940.

Survivors include his wife, Elinor; a son and daughter-in-law, John and Lindy Steinbrecker of Green Bay, Wisconsin; two grandchildren, Christina and William John, both of Green Bay; a brother and a sister-in-law, Vernon and Caroline of Arizona, nieces, nephews and a host of friends also survived.

Friends may call at Urbanek and Schlei Pfeffer and Reinbold State Street Chapel, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday evening and on Monday until 9:30 a.m. and then at the church from 10 a.m. until the hour of service.
