In the 1910 census (see image at right), Alice was a public school teacher listed as divorced in Wilmington, Clinton Co, OH.

In the 1920 census, Alice Jackson Hale was a public school teacher living as "single" in Wilmington, Clinton Co, OH.

Children:

(1) Rachel Edith Hale, born May 14, 1892, Clinton Co, OH; married John W. Powell; died June 13, 1972, San Diego, CA [source: California death records].

(2) Herman Thomas Hale, born Aug 1895, Clinton Co, OH; died 8 Dec 1971, Springfield, Clark Co, OH.

This Alice Hale was the daughter of Thomas Sumner and Esther Ann (Brown) Jackson. She was born 25 Sep 1865 in Clinton Co., OH, and died 11 Jan 1929 in Springfield, Clark Co., OH.

Alice's obituary:

"The Springfield (OH) Daily News Saturday, January 12, 1929. Funeral services for Mrs. Alice J. Hale, 63, who died at 8:05 a.m. Friday at the home of her son, H. T. Hale, 220 Perrin ave., will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the Martinsville, O., Friends Church. Burial will be made in Westboro cemetery.

"Mrs. Hale had been bedfast for the last 22 weeks, and about a week ago her condition became critical. She was born near Westboro, O., the daughter of Thomas Jackson, a member of a pioneer Ohio family, and who at one time was a state senator. For the last several years she had been making her home with her children, Mr. Hale and Mrs. J. W. Powell of Xenia, O. She was a member of the Covenant Presbyterian Church.

"Besides Mr. Hale and Mrs. Powell, Mrs. Hale is survived by five grandchildren, five brothers, Erastus of Blanchester, O., Charles D. of Westboro, O.; Frank, of San Diego, Calif.; Walter, of Whittier, Calif.; and Edward of American Falls, Idaho; and one sister, Miss Laura Jackson of Lebanon, O."
