GLOUSTER--Mrs. Bessie Shumway, 78, of Glouster, died at O'Bleness Memorial Hospital Saturday morning.
She was born in Glouster, daughter of the late Barney and Jessie Lafever Hook. She was a member of the Glouster Methodist Church, American Legion Auxiliary, UMW Auxiliary, Eagles Auxiliary and of the Priscilla Class of the church.
She is survived by two brothers. Orland Hook of Glouster and Leonard Hook of Somerset.
She was preceded in death by two daughters.
Services will be conducted Tuesday at 1 p.m. in the Van Fossen Funeral Home with the Rev. Wilbur Boyer officiating. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home Monday from 1-4 and 7-9 p.m.

In the 1900 US Census she was living in Trimble, Athens Co with her parents and brother Gale. In the 1940 Census she was in Glouster, Athens Co with husband Harold and daughter Leona.
