He was born June 14, 1925, in Manitowoc, son of the late Walter and Elva Zettle Wester. John served with the United States Army during World War II in North Africa and the European Theater.
On Sept. 18, 1948, he married the former Violet E. Awe at St. Andrew Catholic Church, Manitowoc.
John and his brother Robert were in partnership in Wester Service Garage in Manitowoc, until his retirement in 1986. He was a member of VFW Otto Oas Post #659.
Survivors include his wife: Violet Wester, Manitowoc; a son: John Wester and his fiancee, Billie Ann Thomas, Manitowoc; two grandchildren: Tim Wester, Francis Creek; Michelle (Preston) Preston, Rockwood; mother of the grandchildren: Barbara Wester, Manitowoc; two brothers and three sisters-in-law: Robert and Nancy Wester, Manitowoc; Calvin and Carol Wester, Manitowoc; Dorothy Wester Krause, Shoto; an aunt: Edna Jensen and a special cousin: Carol Jean Wester, both of Sturgeon Bay. Also surviving are nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
He was also preceded in death by a brother: William Wester.
The family will greet relatives and friends at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Manitowoc, from 9 a.m. Saturday until the time of service at 11 a.m. The Pfeffer Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Manitowoc, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
