Mr. Burney Wilkinson, 92, of Palatka, died Friday, December 26, 2003 following an extended illness at Crestwood Nursing Center in Palatka.
He was a native of Hollister and was a lifelong resident of Putnam County having been a longtime Palatka resident. He was a U.S. Army veteran having served in WW II in the Pacific theatre. He had sold building supplies for 27 years, having worked for Snyder Building Supply, Poage Building Supply and Brunner Building Supply. He was formerly employed by the City of Palatka at the water plant. Before declining health, he enjoyed farming and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his wives, Gladys Wilkinson and Juanita Wilkinson; two brothers, Cecil Wilkinson and Roy Wilkinson; and a sister, Elanor Downs.
Surviving are a step-daughter, Claudia Price, Palatka; a step-son, Wayne Black, San Mateo; a sister, Dorothy L. Conrad, Palatka; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday, Dec. 29 at the Masters Funeral Home with Rev. E. M. Mathews officiating. Burial with flag presentation bestowed by the U.S. Army followed in Palatka Memorial Gardens. (Palatka Daily News Obituary dtd 30 Dec 2003.)
