Ila Mable Sparks Adams, 84, of 4775 Calico Road, Lenoir, died Monday, Jan. 5, 1998, at Caldwell Memorial Hospital.

She was born Jan. 14, 1913, in Wilkes County to the late Will Newton Sparks and Martha (Mattie) Gambill Sparks. She was also preceded in death by two sons, Carld David Adams and Jessie Lee Adams, Jr. and one daughter, Bernice Adams.

Mrs. Adams was a homemaker and a member of Welcome Home Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, the Rev. Jessie Lee Adams of Lenoir; two sons, Wiley Dean Adams of Lenoir and William Lee Adams of Newton; three daughters, Mrs. Ken (Grace) Townsend and Mrs. Norman (Irene) Curtis, both of Lenoir and Mrs. Lincoln (Doris) Greene of Hudson; two sisters, Mrs. Roscoe (Leona) Combs and Marie Holloway, both of North Wilkesboro; 11 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.

The funeral is at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Pendry's Lenoir Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Aldene Wheeler and Sonny Younce officiating. Burial will ei n Blue Ridge Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends today from 7 until 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Kevin Townsend, Steve Curtis, David Adams, Walt Stroup, Lee Adams and Ricky Adams.
