The son of Thomas & Betsey (Stewart) Eaton.

Death record states he was aged 88 years, 1 month & 21 days.

Enlisted in Co F, Mass 53rd Infantry Regt Oct 17, 1862;
Mustered out June 2, 1863 for transfer to Co F.

Mustered out Sept 2, 1863 at Camp Stevens, Groton, MA.

His pension application (no. 590.160) was filed Nov 29, 1866 and states he was a Musician, Co B, 53rd Mass Inf.


The application for U.S. Gov't Headstone, pension application index, and 1890 Vet's schedule state he was a musician in Co B, 53rd Mass Inf Regt. The Vet's schedule gives credit for 9 months service (Oct 17, '62 - Sept 2, '63), and indicates he was disabled due to scurvy.

He remarried to Abbie Case, of Keene, NH, Aug of 1867. She applied for a widow's pension Sept 12, 1893 (application no. 582.539).
