Inscription
This stone was erected by JOHN LESLIE manufacturer in Huntly in memory of his parents JAMES LESLIE sometime fewer (sic) in Huntly who died 10th May 1763 aged 45 and MARGARET NORIE his spouse who died 15th May 1763 aged 40 also JEAN LESLIE his sister died 12th April 1782 aged 24 years.
Here also is deposited the body of the said JOHN LESLIE who died the 28th February 1798 aged 45. He was much respected by all who knew his worth; liberal and active for the best interests of mankind, spiritual minded solemn yet cheerful. Christ and a free salvation were his favourite theme. He died in full hope of a glorious immortality. His end was peace.
Here likewise lie the remains of ANNE MARR relict of the said JOHN LESLIE who died (19th?) March 1847 aged 73 years.
So here life stops
