I'm her youngest grandchild. She died of leukemia. My mother was her daughter, Ruth, in whose home she died as was referenced in the obit. My parents were married in June of '38 and had both sets of parents living with them in the first three years of their marriage, but thankfully not at the same time. My grandmother had run a boarding house on 4th St in Bloomington, and never had the time to teach my mother any domesticated skills so I'm sure it was a time of great anxiety and pressure for my parents.

During and after her hospital stay (with 9 transfusions), the Drs leeched her hastening her death believing that removing the bad blood would hasten her recovery. Of course, the leeching merely hastened her death.
