STATESBORO, Ga. — Mrs. Virginia Parker Abbott, age 85, died on Thursday, March 4, 2013, at East Georgia Regional Medical Center. The Savannah native moved to Statesboro in 1952 and was a homemaker. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

Surviving are her husband of 66 years, H.C. "Bud" Abbott of Statesboro; two daughters and sons-in-laws, Carolyn and Charles Cox of Valdosta, Ga., and Susan and James Smith of Statesboro, Ga.; a granddaughter, Windy Hodges of Atlanta, Ga.; a sister and brother-in-law, Doris and Rodney Outen of Savannah, Ga.; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Interment will be in Eastside Cemetery and will be private. Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
