Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 8, 2013 at a 2:00 PM Mass of Christian Burial in Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Scott for Isaac Navarre, Sr., 92, who died on Saturday, April 6, 2013 at Magnolia Estates Nursing Home surrounded by his family.

Interment will be in Sts. Peter & Paul Cemetery.

Reverend Gilbert J. Dutel, Pastor of St. Edmond Catholic Church, will be the Celebrant of the funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Karen Broussard, organist and soloist, will sing for the services, "Amazing Grace," "If Tomorrow Never Comes," "In This Very Room," "On Eagles' Wings," and "Be Not Afraid."

He leaves to cherish his memory four daughters, Darnell Morvant and her husband, Curley, Brenda Romero and her husband, L.J., Margery Istre and her husband, Ronald and Linda Duhon and her husband, Aaron; two sons, Glen Navarre and his wife, Brenda and Isaac Navarre, Jr. and his wife, Debbie; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; one sister, Theresa Stelly; a special niece, Vern Guidry; and several more nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lilly Miller Navarre; his parents, Drozin and Celina Domingue Navarre; one son, Joe Louis Navarre; two daughters, Peggy Navarre and Lerlene N. Simon; three sisters; and six brothers.

Isaac Navarre was born on July 28, 1920 in Lafayette Parish, Louisiana and remained a native of Lafayette throughout his life. He was a member of the United States Army and proudly served his country as a PFC Rifleman 745 during the Foreign Wars from 10-20-1944 to 02-07-1945. He earned a Bronze Star, Good Conduct Medal, Victory Ribbon, 1 Overseas Service Bar, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, and one Bronze Star Philippine Liberation Medal. He also served as an 8th Ward Constable in Lafayette for over 36 years. Mr. Navarre worked for the Lafayette Parish Sheriff Department and was also a skilled carpenter. He loved gardening and spending time outdoors. Mr. Navarre was a member of the Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church Community, the VFW Post 9822 and American Legion Post 69. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Pallbearers will be Isaac Navarre, Jr. Glen Navarre, Zachary Burch, Gregory Morvant, L.J. Romero and Joel Simon. Honorary pallbearers will be Ronald B. Istre, Kenneth Bellard, Jimmy Burch, Jacob Burch, Ryan Lavergne, Justin Romero, Kenneth Romero, Robert Lee Franklin, Curley Simon, Jr., and Joseph Romero, Sr.

A Rosary will be recited on Sunday, April 7, 2013 at 7:00 PM in Martin & Castille's SCOTT Location.

The family requests that visitation be observed on Sunday from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM and will continue on Monday from 8:00 AM until time of services.
