FLORENCE AKIN
MT. VERNON Florence Akin, 89, 606 New Fairfield Road, died 12:50 a.m. April 20, 1993, at Good Samaritan Regional Health Center. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Hobbs-Johnson Funeral Home in Benton with the Rev. Lloyd "Doc" Lasley officiating. Burial will be in East Fork Cemetery in West Frankfort. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Mrs. Akin was born March 17, 1904, a daughter of William M. and Mary Clementine (Morris) McKemie. She married Calvin Akin March 17, 1930. He died Jan. 6, 1993. Mrs. Akin was a housewife and a member of the Plasters Grove Free Will Baptist Church at Thompsonville. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Phillip L. (Sandra) Gray of Mt. Vernon and Mrs. Norman (Mary Lou) Wilburn of Alamogordo, N.M.; three grandchildren, Lawrence Wilburn of Grand Junction, Colo.; Gwendolyn Brisino of Alamogordo, N.M. and Shelby Dixon of Wayne City; five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Akin was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters and two brothers.
