Sinclair (Pottinger) Shewan was born 24 Sep 1864 at Gremista, Lerwick. He was a shepherd and farm manager to Sir Arthur Nicolson, Brough Lodge, Fetlar. Married with Ann Law, b. 8 Jun 1865, Cuckron, Weisdale; five children. He died 18 Oct 1931 and was buried at Fetlar Cemetery.

Sinclair Shewan is said to be the composer of Da Fetlar Lullaby and other less known tunes.
He was the father of the renowned Fetlar boatbuilder Walter Shewan.
