Oliver Roy Batman, 82, died April 6, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita. Born October 28, 1930 at Stafford County, he was the son of Albert Roy and Lina H. (Nicolet) Batman.
On Nov. 22, 1957, he married Marilyn Hertel at Great Bend, where he was a lifetime resident. He was a farmer and enjoyed horses and duck hunting. A United States Air Force veteran, he served during the Korean Conflict in Japan for more than two years. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, American Legion Argonne Post 180, VFW Post 3111, and BPO Elks Lodge #1127, all of Great Bend.
Survivors include his wife, Marilyn Batman, of the home, as well as three sons: Eric Batman and his wife Kerri of Great Bend, Erin Batman and his wife Mary of Pratt, and Brian Batman of Columbus, Ohio; a daughter, Nancy Snyder and her husband David of Greenville, S.C. and seven grandchildren: Jordan Batman, Cale Batman, Brady Batman, Cooper Batman, Bailey Batman, Jeffrey Bloom, and Chris Batman. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Phyllis Griffin, Beatrice Lindberg, and Eunice Folds.
Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 10 at Bryant Funeral Home with Kathlyn Lindberg officiating. Interment will be at Great Bend Cemetery, with military rites by the McConnell Air Force Base Honor Guard. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., with the family receiving friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 9 at Bryant Funeral Home.
