Jacob Bruner & Elizabeth Hofner
Charles,
Through researching newspaper articles in North Carolina on newspapers.com I have come to this conclusion that I would like to share with you on Jacob Bruner.
He married Elizabeth Hofner in 1837. They had one child, Susan Bruner, born in Salisbury before the 1840 Census. They were all listed in the 1840 Census living in Salisbury.
From a 11 June 1841 Western Carolinian, I have found the death of Elizabeth Hofner Bruner. She was "about 22" at the time of her death.

I have a clipping of Jacob Bruner's house in Salisbury being sold in 1842. I think this is likely when he moved to Wadesboro, NC at this time.

I have a clipping on the attempted suicide of Miss Susan Bruner, Jacob's and Elizabeth's 19-20 year old daughter, from the 21 Dec. 1859 Raleigh Register quoting the Wadesboro Argus. In it, there is reference to the reason for the suicide attempt as an "argument with her step mother."

I have a clipping of the death of Charlotte Bruner McCollum from the 15 May 1919 Wadesboro Messenger and Intelligencer. In it, the obituary reads that Charlotte is the "daughter of the late Jacob Bruner and his wife Mrs. Susan Paul Bruner and was born in Wadesboro where she spent most of her life."

I have not found a marriage license of Jacob Bruner and Susan Paul yet.

Thanks for your time
