Lorenzo Nelson Jackson was the fifth child born to John Orly Jackson and Ella Ida (Goodshaw) Jackson. He grew up in and around Hebron, New York, going to school during the off-season and helping on the family farm. Later, as he neared adulthood, Lorenzo would go to live with his brother, Orla, on Rupert Mountain Road in Pawlet, Vermont to help as farm labor. His wife, Sadie A Fisk, whom he had married in September of 1908 when they were both about 17 years of age, also lived with him here on the farm.

On the 5th of June in 1917 Lorenzo registered for the Draft of WWI. His draft card shows that he was a farmer on his own farm in West Pawlet, was married, and had several children;

Stillborn Son Jackson
1909–1909

Renny Earl Jackson
1910–

Earl Jackson
1911–1911

Infant Daughter Jackson
1911–1911

Irene Cecil Jackson
1916–1949

Clarence Charles Jackson
1918–1989

Sadly, his wife Sadie would die between 1920 and 1922.
Lorenzo then gave up farming and turned to working in the local slate quarry as a teamster. On June 24, 1924 Lorenzo would marry Natalie "Nettie" Phoebe Woodard in a civil ceremony performed by a Justice of the Peace in Pawlet. The couple would become the parents of 13 more children. Nettie would survive him by more than 20 years.

Lorenzo died at the age of 75 in Rutland where he had resided with his family for four years.
