CLANAHAN, MARTHA ANN INGRAM THOMPSON
(1831~1931). Martha Ann Ingram Thompson Clanahan, wife to Confederate Veteran James Clanahan, was born in Pike County, Alabama on January 4, 1831. Her husband served in the Confederate Army in Company D of the 21st Mississippi infantry until he was wounded in 1862. The Clanahans settled in Texas in 1869. They lived in Mexia until James was admitted into the Confederate Veteran's Home in Austin. James lived at the home from 1899 until his death in 1907. Martha was accepted into the Confederate Widow's Home in Austin, although a specific date has not been found. She applied for a Widow's Pension in 1910 and was granted a pension in 1911. She died on June 20, 1931 of senile degeneration and was buried in the Texas State Cemetery.
