Ethel May Nash Firman VanWoert d/o George C Nash & Mattie E Currier, b. most probably in Millington Tuscola Co MI on Valentine's Day in 1888; 1st born. The family moved alot and lived in Millington, Davison SE of Flint, Forest Twp north of Flint, also in Lapeer Co NW of Lapeer itself, and in the City of Lapeer. Her father dug wells and had to move where the work could be found. Ethel eloped to marry 1st William E Firman in Sarnia ONT on 28 Apr 1906, resided Lapeer MI; children born - George W (1907-1982) & Thelma E (1911-1993). They divorced in 1916. She eloped again to marry 2nd F B Van Woert on 17 Jan 1919 in Cuyahoga Co OH, both giving Toledo as a residence. The family story is Ethel once maintained a boarding house for RR workers in Lapeer. This likely was between marriages, as her daughter Thelma was just a youngster who remembered having to be very quiet in the daytime so certain boarders could sleep. After marrying F B, the couple lived in Ponitac MI. Whereas Thelma remained with her mother, son George Firman lived periodically with his mother in Pontiac & with his Firman grandparents in Lapeer. Ethel preceded F B in death (1947) and is buried beside Thelma E Firman Dick at White Chapel Memorial Park in Troy MI.
