Adeline H Larson Firman d/o Lars Johan Swenson & Maria Matilda Hakansson b. prob. Skane Sweden, in the seaport city of Kaseberga where her parents were born. It appears Adeline came to America with her mother or shortly thereafter not too long before Adeline was age 18. At that age, she was still just learning English. The family tale is that her mother cooked for private families in Lapeer MI. Adeline became a nanny. And met her future husband George W Firman, when he defended her from the taunting she was getting at an ice cream parlor. At age 16, George sought and received permission from his mother to marry Adeline. She was an excellent cook herself and harbored her recipes very carefully - no one could be in her kitchen while she was cooking. She would be offended if someone wanted to snack between meals - her meals were special and should be enough to satisfy anyone who sat at her table. Her homes were kept spotless - a haven for George to find comfort in when he returned home from work each day. Their love affair lasted 49 years, when George died in 1982. Adeline then lived with her daughter in Missouri. Her last years saw a decline in health requiring considerable attention. She passed in Nixa MO in January 1996, aged 91. Her remains returned to Oakland Co MI, she is at rest beside her champion at White Chapel Memorial Gardens in Troy.
