Obituary
FITZPATRICK Ann Davis Fitzpatrick, 91, of Hixson passed away the evening of April 9, 2013. Originally from Mobile, Alabama, she moved here seven years ago to be closer to her daughter, Mariann Fitzpatrick Hughes. Ann was born October 21, 1921 in Monroeville, Alabama and grew up alongside literary giants Harper Lee and Truman Capote. She became quite a character in her own right and eventually settled in Mobile where she assembled aircraft at Brookley Field during World War II. In 1955, she began working for Gayfer's department store, where she later became the millinery buyer. During the 1970's her colorful personality served her a regular guest host of The Dot Moore Show. She was preceded in death by her husband Clarence Joseph "Larry" Fitzpatrick; brothers, Buford, Earl and Erby Davis; sister, Doris Davis Banker; and daughter, Frances Fitzpatrick Beck Marshall. Survivors include her daughter, Mariann (John) Fitzpatrick Hughes of Hixson; grandsons, Tally Beck of New York and Jack (Wendy) Hughes of Knoxville; granddaughter, Julie (James) Hughes Floyd of Hixson; great-grandsons, Nicholas Hughes of Knoxville and Dylan Floyd of Hixson; and great-granddaughters, Morgan Floyd of Hixson and Meagan Hughes of Knoxville. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM CDT on Friday at Mobile Memorial Gardens, Mobile AL. A reception will follow the service at the Holiday Inn Mobile West. Arrangements are by Legacy Funeral Home and Cremation Center.
