Former Miner A. Slingsby Dies at 77
A retired Lethbridge coal miner, Arthur Slingsby, of 318 20th St. N., died in Calgary Saturday at the age of 77.
Mr. Slingsby came to Calgary from England in 1910 and moved to the Lethbridge district one year later. He worked in No. 6 and No. 8 mines to Lethbridge until his retirement.
He was a member of the First United Church Session and belonged to the miners union. Mr. Slingsby was predeceased by his wife, the former Ethel Maude Bevan in 1957.
He is survived by one son. Victor at Wrentham, three daughters, Mrs. James (Ethel) Gordon, Vancouver, Mrs. J. E (Gwen) Smalley, Calgary and Mrs. Charles (Doris) Ommer, Lethbridge; two sisters in England; one brother in California; 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
