HELEN SHEROD BARTLETT

Mrs. Helen E. Bartlett, daughter of Guy and Edna Miller Gray, was born September 17, 1906, at Keosauqua and departed this life Saturday, August 11, 1973 at Van Buren County Memorial Hospital in Keosauqua at the age of 66. She lived her entire life in Keosauqua with the exception of a brief period in Des Moines and was graduated from Keosauqua High School with the class of 1935.

On November 27, 1936, she was married to Thadius Sherod who passed away in 1967. On April 25, 1968, she married Carl J. Bartlett. He remains to cherish her memory.

Also surviving are a sister, Mrs. Dale Billingsley of Maryville, Mo., a brother Harold F. Gray of Burlington Junction, Mo., a step-son Carl L. Bartlett, two step grandsons, nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Helen was a lifetime member of the Keosauqua Christian Church and a member of its Christian Women's Fellowship. She was a member of the Beer-Barker Unit, American Legion Auxiliary and a Past President of the World War I Veterans Auxiliary, both at Keosauqua.

She will be remembered as a devoted wife, a faithful member of her church, and a civic-minded person who did her bit to make her community a better place in which to live.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, August 13, 1973 at 1 p.m. at the Keosauqua Christian Church with the Rev, John Ballensky and Raymond Lyon, pastor, officiating. Interment was in Purdom Cemetery.
