Evelyn Brown 92, of Laurel, IA passed away Thursday, January 17, 2013, at Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, January 21, 2013, at the State Street Chapel of the Anderson Funeral Homes in Marshalltown. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., Sunday, January 20, 2013, at the State Street Chapel of the Anderson Funeral Homes. Interment will be at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens in Marshalltown. Evelyn was born March 26, 1920 to Lionel and Enid (Ralls) Smith in Plevna, MO. She graduated from Laurel High School in 1940. Evelyn was united in marriage to Ralph Brown on November 16, 1940 in Shelbyville, MO. He died March 5, 2003. She was a homemaker. Evelyn was a member of the Laurel United Methodist Church. She was a member of the women's club of Laurel. Evelyn loved crocheting, knitting, gardening, and yard work. She was a wonderful cook.
Evelyn will be missed by two sons; Bill (Nancy) Brown of Des Moines, IA, Ken (Donna) Brown of Osage Beach, MO, four grandchildren; Beth (Chris) Thornton, Mike (Jessie) Brown, Michelle (Gary) Sherzan, Brandon (Darci) Brown, twelve great grandchildren, and a sister, Dorothy Basham. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph, three brothers; Ken, Sid, and John Smith, two sisters; Helen Perrigo, and Margaret, in infancy.
