Robert C. Ammons, 92, passed away Monday, June 6, 2011, at Green Hills Inn, West Liberty.

He was born in West Virginia on Oct. 20, 1918, a son of the late Steven and Minnie Alice Henderson Ammons. He also was preceded in death by four brothers, two sisters and a son-in-law, Eugene Robinson.

On Aug. 17, 1937, he married the former Elizabeth Jane Kennedy in Lakeview and she survives, along with a daughter, Jane Robinson of Bellefontaine; a son, Bob (Brenda) Ammons of Huntsville; grandchildren, Kevin, Dee Dee, Jeff and Joy; nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Betty Miracle of West Liberty; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He retired from the State of Ohio Natural Resources and attended First Church of God in Bellefontaine. He enjoyed doing crafts, remodeling homes and getting his grandkids "stirred-up," then sending them home. He also enjoyed traveling, having spent 18 winters in Florida, and was well known for his jokes.

Pastor Ray Headings conducts a funeral at 2 p.m. Thursday at Eichholtz Funeral Home, Belle Center, where calling is two hours prior. Burial is in Fairview Cemetery, Belle Center.
