Born in Swiss, Missouri on October 29, 1922, the son of the late Andrew Jackson and Flora C. (Gruber) Hurst.
He was the widower of Martha M. (Webber) Hurst. They were married January 25, 1947 at St. George Church, Hermann. Martha preceded him in death on January 5, 2003.
Andrew was a member of St. George Church, Hermann, Missouri and the Hermannn V.F.W. Post 4182. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during WWII.
He was an electrican and owned his own business. He also worked at International Shoe Company, the Gasconade Boat Yard, Western Auto in Hermann, was a union laborer for Local 840 of Rolla and worked at Callaway and Labadie Power Plants.
Andrew is survived by three daughters, Theresa Dietz of Hermann, Missouri, Carolyn Hurst of Hermann, Missouri, Virginia Wolf & husband Daniel of Morrison, Missouri and a son Herbert Hurst & special friend Melissa Stiegman of Hermann, two sisters Verna Branson of Owensville, Missouri and Norma Veltre of Washington, Missouri, a sister-in-law Julitta Jones of Hermann, Missouri, by grandchildren Kristine Pottebaum, Timothy Wolf, Nathaniel Hurst, Andrew Dietz, Michael Wolf, Ashley Elfline, Alyson Garner, Melani Elfline, Christopher Hurst and Samuel Hurst and by 10 great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, son David Hurst, a granddaughter Jill Hanger Elfline, two brothers Virgil and Herbert Hurst and a sister Flora Bock.
