Funeral Services for Virgil Hurst Will Be Tuesday
Funeral services for Virgil Alvin Hurst, 84, Owensville, will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 26, at Gottenstroeter Funeral Home, Owensville.
Burial will be in Countryside Memorial Gardens, Owensville.
Mr. Hurst passed away Wednesday, April 20, 2011, at St. John's Mercy Hospital, Washington.
He is survived by his wife, Rose, nee Havelka; his children, Linda Scott and Ron Hurst and wife Mary, all of Owensville; other relatives and many friends.
The family is being served by Gottenstroeter Funeral Home, Owensville.

Virgil Alvin Hurst of Owensville, Mo. departed this life on Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at St. John's Mercy Hospital in Washington. He had reached the age of 84 years, five months and 18 days. Virgil was born in Swiss on November 2, 1926, a son of the late Flora (Gruber) and Andrew J. Hurst. On February 28, 1948 in Drake he was united in marriage to Rose Havelka. He volunteered time with the Cub Scouts. He was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Michael Scott; brother, Herbert Hurst and sister, Flora Bock. His survivors include his wife, Rose; children, Linda Scott and Ron Hurst and wife Mary both of Owensville; brother, Andrew Hurst of Hermann; sisters, Norma Veltre of Washington and Verna Branson of Owensville; and by six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 26 at 11:00 a.m. at the Gottenstroeter Funeral Home in Owensville with Rev. Terry Knight officiating. Burial will be in the Countryside Memorial Gardens in Owensville. Visitation will begin on Monday evening at 4:00 p.m.
