Jewell E. Ellis SUFFOLK - Jewell Eugene Mathias Ellis, 79, died Thursday, Feb. 18, 2010 in Sentara Obici Hospital. Born March 1930 in Portsmouth, she was the daughter of the late Jewell and Edna Mathias. She was predeceased by her husband, James Ellis. Survivors include her three children, Brenda (Boykin) Hawkins-Worrell and husband Paul, Kimberly Johnson and husband Ben, Paul Ellis and wife Carol; she leaves behind five grandchildren, Christopher C. (Boykin) Hawkins and wife Danielle of Northern Virginia, John Boykin and wife Amy of Charlotte, N.C., Crystal Ellis Ward and husband Chad of Gates County, N.C., Shelby and RJ Andelton and Carter of Holland; her beloved great-grandchildren, Kayla, Morgan, and Briley Hawkins, along with Taylor, Carson, and Andrew Boykin, and Braxton Ward; along with great-great-granddaughter, Ashlynn. She is also survived by her sister, Maryanne Rose and a brother Maylon Mathias. Her life was her family whom she loved dearly. Graveside services will be conducted Sunday, Feb. 21, at 2 p.m. at Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens by the Rev. Jim Foreman and Pastor T. R. King. The family will receive friends in the R. W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home & Crematory, 509 W. Washington St., Suffolk, VA 23434 today from 6 to 8 p.m. Condolences may be registered at www.rwbakerfh.com.
