LINDSEY--Alfred Waggoner, 102, of 2783 County Road 106, a long-time farmer and business and political leader, died this morning at Parkview Care Center.
Mr. Waggoner was the oldest living former state legislator and was active in a variety of community and agricultural organizations.

LINDSEY--Alfred Waggoner, 102, of 2783 County Road 106, a longtime farmer and business and political leader, died this morning at Parkview Care Center.
He was born in Sandusky County Feb. 19, 1882, a son of William Alfred and Mary (Reiling) Waggoner. His wife, the former Emma Conner preceded him in death.
Surviving are two sons, Conner Waggoner of Los Angeles and Neal Waggoner of Fremont; 11 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two great-grandchildren and a stepbrother.
Mr. Waggoner worked for the U.S. Postal Service from 1902 to 1911. He served two terms in the Ohio House of Representatives, from 1915 to 1918, and was Ohio's oldest living legislator. He worked for the U.S. Department of Agriculture from 1933 to 1938.
He was vice president of the Farmer's Mutual Relief Association from 1940 to 1942. and served as its president from 1942 to 1967; was a member of the board of Fremont Beet Growers Association for 24 years and secretary of the board for 20 years; a member of the board of Farmers Mercantile and Elevator Co. of Lindsey for 27 years, serving as its president for 19 years; belonged to the Sandusky County Historical Society and the Anthony Wayne Chapter of Toledo of the Sons of the American Revolution. He was a member of the Lindsey Lions Club and served as its charter president in 1957.
He was a retired farmer.
The funeral will be at noon Friday at the Keller-Ochs-Koch Funeral Home.
Visitation at the funeral home will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday.
It was suggested that any memorial donations be to donor's choice.
