The wife and three children of a former Lancaster man now living in Richland, Calif., were among the victims of Sunday's crash of a TWA jetliner 60 miles west of Kefallinia Island, in the Ionian sea. Among the 88 victims were: Alice Z. Benedict, 36, of 721 Yuba St., Richmond, Calif., wife of Lee Benedict, formerly of Conestoga R2; Mary Yerondopoulos, 15, Mrs. Benedict's daughter by a previous marriage; Jeffrey Benedict, 7, and James E. Benedict, 5. Local survivors include the Benedict brothers' paternal grandparents, Clarence K. Benedict, Columbia, and Mrs. Reba Aston Benedict, Lancaster. A spokesman for the family said the woman and her children had been visiting her family in Greece and were returning to the U.S. when the crash occurred. Cause of the crash is still under investigation. The bodies of the mother and her children have not been recovered. Lee Benedict, a former resident of Conestoga R2, has been employed with IBM Corporation in Richmond, Calif., for the past 15 years. He was in California at the time of the crash. According to the spokesman, the Benedict family spent alternate summers visiting relatives in Greece and Lancaster County. Memorial services will be held Sunday 3 p.m. at Green Hill United Methodist Church, Conestoga R2. (Intelligencer Journal - Sept 13, 1974)
