Eleanor Anunciata Willer died peacefully after a long battle with cancer on May 7, 2012 while surrounded by her children at Scottish Rite Park Health Center. Eleanor was born in Chicago, Illinois on September 24, 1925 to John and Eleanor Considine, one of six children. She was a graduate of Nazareth Academy.

She was united in marriage to Jack Robert Willer on September 13, 1947 and moved to Des Moines, Iowa in 1955. She led a fulfilled and active life raising seven children. A devout Catholic, she was a long time member of the Altar and Rosary Society and Catholic Women's League. She was a Cub Scout den mother and volunteered many hours at Mercy Hospital gift shop. Eleanor made the best potato salad this side of Ireland and did a mean Irish jig. Eleanor is survived by her children James (Ann) Willer and John Willer, of Des Moines, twin daughters Patricia (David) Maahs of Polk City, IA and Joan Willer of Des Moines, Thomas (Mary) Willer of Otley, IA, Robert (Renee) Willer of St Louis, MO, and grandchildren, Patrick (Ashley) Willer of Peekskill, NY, Katherine Willer of New York, NY Sarah Maahs of Madison, WI, and Adam Maahs of Des Moines, and great granddaughter, Madison Ann Willer of Peekskill, NY. She was preceded in death by her husband Jack R. Willer and son Michael J Willer.

Visitation will be 4 to 6 p.m.,Tuesday, May 8 at Iles Funeral Home- Dunn's Chapel. A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, May 9 at 3 p.m. at St. Augustin Catholic Church with an interment to follow. The family wishes to express their deep appreciation for the care of their mother received by the entire staff at Scottish Rite Park. Their care and compassion were extraordinary. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Augustin Catholic Church or Catholic Charities.
