Matie Loomis Dies in Texas
Matie C. Loomis, 87, of Bad Axe, died Sunday at Valley Baptist Memorial Hospital, Harlingen, Texas, following a brief illness.
She was born Dec. 1, 1894 - in Elmwood Township, near Gagetown, the daughter of Henry and Agnes McDonald Anker. She and Arthur D. Loomis were married April 6, 1921, at Caro. The couple farmed for many years in Elkland Township near Cass City. He preceded her in death in 1957.
Mrs. Loomis lived the past 11 years in Bad Axe. She was a member of the Caseville United Methodist Church.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Manley (Mildred) Fay Jr., Bad Axe; one granddaughter, and one sister, Mrs. Howard (Gertrude) Evans, Lake Orion. Four brothers, John Anker, William Anker, Stanley Anker, and Nelson Anker, and one sister, Belle Lash, preceded her in death.
Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the First United Methodist Church, Bad Axe. Rev. David A. Stout, pastor, and Rev. Eldred Kelley of Salem United Methodist Church, Cass City, officiated.
Burial was in Elkland Cemetery.
Arrangements were by MacAlpine Funeral Home, Bad Axe.
