Spec. 5/c Medical Corpsman, U.S. Army, Vietnam War-Spec. Combs was killed in action by small arms fire during Operation Francis Marion on 7-12-1967 while serving as "Medic" {91B20} with the HHC of the 1st Battalion, 12th Infantry Regiment, 4th Infantry Division. Spec. Combs started his tour of Vietnam on November 17, 1966.

He is the son of Mr. & Mrs. Charles Combs of 2232 Forrest Home Avenue, Dayton, Ohio, and is a 1963 graduate of the Dayton School System.

Awards: Bronze Star Medal with "V" Device, Combat Medical Badge, Purple Heart, Vietnam Service Medal with One Service Star, Vietnam Campaign Medal, National Defense Service Medal.
