Clayton Cox was born Sept. 1, 1881 in Golden City, Mo., the son of Henry and Eliza Crook Cox.
He moved to Markesan, Wisc., then to Grand Meadow, Minn. In 1896, farming in the Grand Meadow and Dexter area until 1944 when he moved to Austin working several years for the Mower County Highway Dept.
On October 15, 1907 he married Clara Probst in Austin. He resided at 1107 17th Ave. NE and his main interests were his home and family.
Mr. Cox died April 28, 1970 at Raymond's Nursing Home.
He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Edith Pike, Mrs. Harold (Lucille) Hinkle, Austin.
He was preceded in death by his wife in 1962, five sisters and three brothers.
Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. April 30 at Worlein Funeral Home, Rev. Howard Bredesen officiating. Interment was in Grand View Memorial Gardens.
Relatives and friends came from Grand Meadow, Dexter, Lake City, Stillwater, Albert Lea, Mankato, Inver Grove, Keister, Minn., Lake Mills, Iowa, Markesan, Wis.
