Jean Penrod Aitken

Beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Jean Penrod Aitken, returned to her Father in Heaven peacefully on December 8, 1999 at the age of 68 after a prolonged illness.

She was born in Provo, Utah on February 10, 1931 to Babera and Lloyd A Penrod. She attended school in Goshen and Payson, Utah.She married her sweetheart, Bernell T. Aitken, on November 17, 1949 in the Manti L.D.S. Temple. He preceded her in death on September 20, 1996.

She raised one daughter and five sons: Jerry (deceased) and Lynda Aitken, Provo, Utah; Ronald and Ann Aitken, Sandy, Utah; Janell and Kevin Dunn, Mapleton, Utah; Bryan and Mindy Aitken, Centerville, Utah; Bradley and Rebekah Aitken, Lake Shore, Utah; Robert and Lori Aitken, Spanish Fork, Utah; 23 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, all of whom were the joys of her life. She is also survived by her father and step-mother, Lloyd and Irma Penrod of Goshen, Utah; and her brothers, Lloyd Penrod, Allen Penrod and Faye Ryan.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Babera Taylor Penrod, and her brother, Oliver Penrod.

She was a devoted mother and grandmother. She loved sewing, painting and spending time in her garden. She was an active member of the L.D.S. Church and served in many capacities and filled her callings faithfully. Spending time with her family was the greatest joy of her life.

Funeral services will be held in the Lake Shore First Ward Chapel, 5926 South 3200 West, on Saturday, December 11, 1999 at 11 a.m. A viewing will be held at Walker Mortuary, 187 South Main Street, Spanish Fork on Friday evening, December 10, 1999, where friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Ward Relief Society Room.

Interment will be at the Spanish Fork City Cemetery.
