Karaff Rites Are Scheduled For Sunday
Funeral Services for Florence Marie Karaff, 73, of 502 N. Franklin will be held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Mary Immaculate Catholic Church. The Rev. Michael Flanagan, pastor of the church, will conduct the services. Burial will be in Highland Park Cemetery.

After 8 o'clock Saturday morning, the body will be at the Johnson Funeral Home where rosary will be said Saturday evening at 6:30.

Mrs. Karaff died Wednesday night at 9:20 in a Kirksville hospital where she had been a patient since Feb. 21.

Born Oct. 9, 1903 in Knox county, she was the daughter of Herman and Louise Schenk Marquardt. On Feb. 16, 1925 in Kirksville, she was married to George Karaff who preceded her in death on April 11, 1970. Also preceding her in death were two sons, Howard Andrew Karaff on Sept. 13, 1930 and Robert George Karaff on April 23, 1972 and one brother, Andy Marquardt in April 1976.
Surviving are one half- brother, Paul Marquardt of Edina; five half-sisters, Pauline Pebbly of Peace Valley, Thelma Fast of Hurdland, Lucille Sheets of Bowling Green, Mary Ellen Sheets of Edina and Catherine Walbel of Shelbina: two cousins and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Karaff was reared in Knox county where she attended the Bishop and Oklahoma rural schools southeast of Edina. After her schooling she worked on a farm until 1922, when she moved to Kirksville. She was then employed with the International Shoe Company until 1925.

After their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Karaff resided on a farm east of Kirksville and west of Hurdland until 1947 when they moved to Edina. In 1958 they moved to Kirksville.

Mrs. Karaff had been employed in several restaurants in both Edina and Kirksville. From 1967 until 1969 she was employed at Ryle Hall on the Northeast Missouri State University campus.

She was a member of the Mary Immaculate Church and the Altar Society of the church. She was a member of the Senior Citizens and was a volunteer worker for the Retired Senior Volunteer Program.

Bearers will be: Ralph Sheets, Donald Bennett, Bobby Leavitt, Joe Karaff, Raymond Karaff, and Eugene Karaff.
