Walter Carroll
Walter Carroll, colored, husband of Mrs. Irene Carroll, West All Saints street, died Monday evening at the Kecoughtan Veterans hospital in Hampton, Va., where he had been a patient for a number of years. He was a veteran of World War I.
Surviving other than his wife are a daughter, Mrs. Rebecca Carroll, this city; a son Melvin Carroll, Flint Hill; a stepson, Robert Carroll, this city; two step-daughters, Miss Irene Carroll and Mrs. Elizabeth Hallman, both of this city.
The body will arrive here this afternoon and will be at the Hicks funeral home where friends may call after six o'clock this evening. Services will be held from the funeral home, 24 West All Saints street, Saturday morning at 11:30 o'clock. Rev. W. I. Snowden will officiate. Interment in Fairview cemetery.

The funeral of Walter Carroll, husband of Mrs. Irene Carroll of 112 West All Saints street, who died Monday at the Kecougthan Veterans Hospital in Hampton, Va., was held Saturday morning at 11:30 o'clock from funeral home 24 West All Saints street. Rev. W. I. Snowden officiated, assisted by Rev. Mrs. G. H. Tilghman.
Pallbearers were Lawrence Thomas, John A. Jones, John Jackson, Robert Stanton. Interment was in Fairview cemetery. C. E. Hicks III, funeral director.

On 18 November 1954, Irene Carroll signed an Application For Headstone Or Marker form for her husband Walter Carroll. He was a World War I veteran who enlisted 1 June 1918 and served as a private with the 15th Company, 154th Depot Brigade, 4 Development Battalion until his discharge on 7 December 1918.
